Zhang Qingli: Es gibt keine guten Menschen mehr
Wednesday, 17.10.2007
Chinese officials have warned the United States not to honor the Dalai Lama, saying a planned award ceremony Wednesday for the Tibetan spiritual leader would have “an extremely serious impact” on relations between the two countries. … “We are furious,” the Tibetan Communist Party leader, Zhang Qingli, said during the [Communist Party's 17th National] Congress. “If the Dalai Lama can receive such an award, there must be no justice or good people in the world.” Quelle: IHT

Deng Xiaoping’s Legacy Divides Chinese Leadership
Saturday, 13.10.2007
Seventeen former ministers, officials and scholars, who see themselves as the protectors of Mao’s legacy, sent a letter to Hu [Jintao] in July. The country is sliding down an “evil path,” they wrote. “Party secretaries have become capitalists, and capitalists have become party members.” … But for dedicated Deng followers, the reforms haven’t gone far enough. In a letter to the liberal publication Yanhuang Chunqiu, they warned the Communist Party leadership of the dangers of social unrest that they fear could plunge China into a crisis.
